Maryland Children’s Justice Act Committee

Membership

The Task Force is a multi-disciplinary group, composed of volunteer representatives who have knowledge and expertise in the area of criminal justice and child abuse. Representatives include:

  • Law Enforcement
  • Criminal/civil court Judges
  • Prosecuting Attorneys
  • Defense Attorneys
  • Child Advocates/Attorneys for Children
  • Court Appointed Special Advocates
  • Health Professionals
  • Mental Health Professionals
  • Child Protective Services
  • Individuals working with children with disabilities
  • Parent Group Representatives
  • Adult former Victims of Child Abuse and Neglect
  • Individuals working with homeless children

Members are expected to attend regularly scheduled meetings held bi-monthly. CJA Task Force members participate in the following types of activities:

  • Identify, raise and discuss critical issues within the field of children’s justice and child abuse;
  • Provide program recommendations to the Governor’s Office of Crime Control & Prevention;
  • Develop policy recommendations related to children’s justice and child abuse issues;
  • Assist the GOCCP in the preparation for the three year plan and assessment report; and
  • Represent and provide relevant information from the specific field for which he/she has been appointed.
