Maryland Children’s Justice Act Committee
Membership
The Task Force is a multi-disciplinary group, composed of volunteer representatives who have knowledge and expertise in the area of criminal justice and child abuse. Representatives include:
- Law Enforcement
- Criminal/civil court Judges
- Prosecuting Attorneys
- Defense Attorneys
- Child Advocates/Attorneys for Children
- Court Appointed Special Advocates
- Health Professionals
- Mental Health Professionals
- Child Protective Services
- Individuals working with children with disabilities
- Parent Group Representatives
- Adult former Victims of Child Abuse and Neglect
- Individuals working with homeless children
Members are expected to attend regularly scheduled meetings held bi-monthly. CJA Task Force members participate in the following types of activities:
- Identify, raise and discuss critical issues within the field of children’s justice and child abuse;
- Provide program recommendations to the Governor’s Office of Crime Control & Prevention;
- Develop policy recommendations related to children’s justice and child abuse issues;
- Assist the GOCCP in the preparation for the three year plan and assessment report; and
- Represent and provide relevant information from the specific field for which he/she has been appointed.
